Six Month Check-up

I can't believe our little girl is 6 months old already! She's not a little baby anymore. :( I guess it's time to have another one, huh? Just joking, Chris. Anyway, she had her 6 month check-up this week. Poor little thing had to get 4 shots. I always conveniently have to go to the restroom when it's time for shots, and brave Daddy holds her still after I leave the room while she gets poked. Here's her cute little baby legs with band-aids on each poor little leg.

No worries, though, she's still happy as ever!

And she's even happier while partaking in her favorite past-time . . . chewing her feet! Anytime I take her socks off she gets those toes in her mouth immediately. Isn't it funny that chewing feet at this age is adorable, but it quickly turns to being disgusting in a few years. ha ha.

She got a clean bill of health from the doctor. And fortunately, she is slimming down (for a while there I thought we'd have a skinny boy and a little chunk for a daughter based on the rate she was growing) - here are her stats:

Weight: 15 lbs, 8 oz (25-50th percentile)
Height: 26 inches (50 - 75th percentile)
Head: 17 1/4 cm (75 - 90th percentile)

Being the Type A accountant that I am, I was frustrated that for some reason instead of telling us the EXACT percentile that she measured, they gave us ranges this time. So, I referenced my handy dandy book at home from the American Academy of Pediatrics, and it looks like she is 50th percentile for weight and 60th percentile for height if I looked at the little itty bitty chart correctly that is really hard to see (which helps me to understand why the almost-retired nurse chose to just give us ranges).

My wonderful maternity leave is coming to an end. :( I go back to work next week. Fortunately, I work a reduced schedule and usually will work only 4 days a week from 9-5, but January and February are my busy months so I will be working 5 days a week when I start back to work. I'll try to keep the blog up, but I imagine there will be fewer posts for the next several weeks. Anyway, I haven't been doing much the last several days except enjoying as much time at home with the kids as I can. Here are some pictures I've taken this week. I'm personally not too crazy of baby pictures with black backgrounds (looks a little harsh to me for little ones) , but it is fun to experiment so that's what Celena and I did this afternoon. :)

Cass got a Thomas the Train train track for Christmas, and he LOVES it. He uses it for both his trains and his race cars. He wants to play with the track constantly, and he always wants either me or Chris to watch him, but while we watch we are NOT allowed to touch the trains or the track - he makes it clear that we are only to be spectators!!

Happy New Year

We stayed home this year for New Year's Eve. Our neighbors decided to set off fireworks around 10:00, which woke Celena up, so she got to hang out with Mommy and Daddy to bring in the New Year! Here she is hanging out with Daddy while we were playing Yahtzee.

Christmas

This was the first year that Cass really seemed to understand what was going on with all of the gifts. He is at a great age when it comes to buying gifts for him, because he loves everything . . . books, cars, etc., and of course Thomas the Train! He even loves Celena's presents . . . I say this as he is on the floor beside me spinning around a light-up turtle that she got as a gift - I guess she will learn early on to share her toys!

1st Christmas

Celena had a couple different "Baby's 1st Christmas" outfits, so we had a wardrobe change midway through the day so we could get pictures in each outfit. :) She must have sensed the excitement of Christmas, because I couldn't get her to nap at all during the day. She was tuckered out by bedtime!

Christmas Program

Here's a clip from Cass's first school Christmas progam. This is his class of 2-year olds singing. Cass is in the middle in the khaki pants and red sweater, climbing the risers the entire time. We were cracking up!

Our Little Ballerina

What do you think my husband would look like if he weighed 15 pounds and wore a pink tutu? Ha! Celena looks SO MUCH like her daddy!! It's funny to see the resemblance even when I dress her up like this. :)
