Water table

We got Cass a water table this weekend. We envisioned that he would calmly float his little boats in the water, so we decided to set it up on our screened porch. We quickly learned that was a mistake - he was splashing all over, and taking his boats and pouring the water out of them on the floor. He was soaked, as was the floor and the side of the house. We should have known better.

So, we moved it outside, and changed him into his swim trunks. (And yes, we know our dogs are looking shaggy, they need hair cuts).

Easter Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood had an Easter Egg Hunt at the park on Saturday. We got there early, so Cass got to play on the playground. He loved going down the slide.

Of course, you can't have an Easter Egg Hunt without the Easter bunny! The lady that took the picture couldn't figure out how to work the zoom on the camera, so the top of Chris's head is cut off. This was her 4th attempt at getting us all in the picture (she was really struggling), so it's the best one we were able to get. :)

Cass didn't quite understand what he was supposed to do at the Easter Egg Hunt . . . Daddy had to explain.

Now he's starting to get it!

Daddy opened up one of the eggs to show him the candy inside - now I think it's all starting to make more sense to him! There were 3,000 eggs at the Easter Hunt. Cass got 4. :)

New 'Do

Cass had his first "professional" haircut this weekend. I've cut his hair several times, but the older he gets, the harder it is to get him to sit still, so I finally decided it was time to take him for a real haircut. He was SOOO good! We were shocked. He just sat completely still the whole time. As you can see in the picture, one of the ladies that worked there stood in front of him and blew bubbles, so that probably helped.

Here's an "after" picture - he's much less shaggy now. I think I will officially retire my scissors.

Church

Here's Cass on his way to church this morning. Now that he no longer takes a morning nap and flu season is over, we've started taking him to the nursery during church. Last week was the first week he went, and he did fairly well - he was really focused on all the new toys, and didn't realize we weren't there until about 40 minutes into the service, and then he started crying. When we took him today, we stayed with him for a few minutes until he got comfortable playing, but when we left he threw a fit. We stood outside the door to see if he calmed down, which he didn't, so we ended up going back in and spending the entire church service with him in the nursery. They had the service playing on a TV, but we didn't catch much of it. Hopefully after a few more weeks he'll get more comfortable being in the nursery without us - we'll keep trying!

21 Weeks

I'm over halfway there! Our baby girl is due in 19 weeks. Here's the latest belly photo.

I've been bad about posting to the blog this month. Here are a few pictures from a few weeks ago when Cass and the dogs were playing outside.

Imaginon

This morning Cass and I went to Imaginon, which is a Children's library in uptown Charlotte. First we went to storytime, which Cass loved, then he played in the play area for quite a while afterwards.

Here he is sitting outside a little play house. He took the dishes and some of the plastic fruit and veggies out of the play house and sat them on the floor outside the door. Poor little guy . . . he didn't understand that the food was plastic - he cried after trying to bite the banana and realizing it wasn't real!

Here he is playing with a theatre light switch that turns on the red and blue lights above the stage. And yes, the kids are allowed to play with the switches . . . I double checked!!

Charlotte has a trolley system in the uptown area (very similar to the San Francisco trolleys, but on wheels instead of tracks). The library has a mini-trolley that the kids can play in - here's Cass checking out the view through the "windows" of the trolley (which are really just pictures).

We had a fun time - they have the story times for his age group every Friday morning, so we'll definitely be back!
